I guess you need some blacklight for this to work but the UV filter on any movinghead/scanner should do the trick.

Just bought the Traktor S4

I found the Traktor S4 available for pre order at DJ Techtools! Only $899 (+ tax and shipping) including a two hour DVD with Ean Golden with intro, tips and tricks about the unit. It will probably not be here in Norway before November/Descember...

The Native Instruments Traktor S4 unvailed

There are alot of buzz around the new S4 controller for Traktor and aswell there should be.
Based on what DJ Techtools wrote on this I'm realy excited, but also a bit dissapointed on some parts.

There will be an EAN GOLDEN version for this controller aswell where the jogwheels will also have an effects functionality! Congratz Ean!

Upsides
1. HID CONTROLLER FOR TRAKTOR! Finally we can get a super tight controller! 30 times the accurassy of MIDI.
2. The controller looks awsome and the layout realy support a well organized DJ workflow.
3. The new loop section looks really powerfull. Like the recording features.
4. 24 bit/96 kHz soundcard included!
4. Pricepoint is excellent! A 4 channel controller of this magnetude with build in soundcard for $999? Yes!
5. Mixer section look beyond awsome!
6. The software layout and new colors look fantastic.
7. Flight case gives it mobility and the laptop stand feature was pretty cool.

Downsides
1. The software will be exclusive to the controller. =( So I just HAVE to buy the whole deal. (SO WHAT?!)
2. There are no inputs for controll vinyl/CD... Yet...
3. After watching the DJ Shifty video I thought the buttons looked a bit small. (around 3:00)
4. Looks like they removed effects bank 3 and 4.

New Traktor CD Timecode!

An improved version of the Traktor CD timecode is now available for download through Service Center. This new timecode fixes a potential skipping issue with certain CD decks. Just burn the included WAV files as an audio CD without any pauses between the tracks ("0 second" setting).

Preparing a set

My setup for preparation.I have a keyboard setup that has NO interference with my performance. No keyboard click will do anything to a playing track... Unless I click CTRL or ALT.
However. If I press ALT+CTRL+P I go into preparation mode. It also enters browser only mode.
NOW I use:
1 to load the track into the preview player. (Pinky)
2 to go back in the preview (Ring)
3 to go forward (fine) in the preview (Long)
4 to go forward (coarse) in the preview (Index)
SPACE for add to preparation (Thumb)
And offcause up and down for browsing. (Right hand).

Then I click ALT+CTRL+P and I'm back to normal performance mode.
PS: I use internal mixer mode and assign the monitor to my internal laptop soundcard.

Last couple of months

I’ve been off for a while doing mostly work for my day job, but I’m back to just give some scoops on what I’ve been looking at for the last couple of months.

New TRAKTOR!I’ve upgraded my Traktor to version 1.1 and I’m so satisfied with the new features.

New HOTKEY SETUPI made a hotkey setup which I feel is the bomb and that everyone should have. I haven’t got time to document it quite yet, but I’ll get to that this month. I promise/hope…
The idea was basically that I don’t want ANY buttons that can mess up my performance on hand on the keyboard. It’s happened one too many times that I’m trying to search for a track and mess up because I wasn’t in the search window.

EKS OTUSI just got this baby for demo and trial. It's a nice controller but I haven't had time to fully set it up. I'm hoping to get cracking next month on this superstar controller and I'll keep you updated once I get started.

Traktor Pro

I've bought Traktor Pro and I'm very pleased with the upgrades. The new effect unit was a blast and the loop function is soooo much better now. To top it of the coverart is finaly included and I've done a great deal of work on getting coverart to all my files. LOVE IT!
