How to sync with timecode

The key to applying sync when using timecode is quite simple, but there are a couple of things you'll need to keep in mind.
  1. The pitch slider needs to be in 0 when the track is calibrated and NOT moved from that position. Use the internal slider when adjusting the tempo.
  2. The sync will not hold due to the wow and flutter. So you might have to retrigger the sync sometimes if you hit the flutter on a peak. It can vary quite a lot (Worst I’ve seen is between -0,2 and +0,2). Tap it a couple of times till you make a good sync, or continuously to keep it in sync.
  3. If there is much wow and flutter the track will also sometimes loose the Master setting aswell. Map a “Set Master” function to a midi controller or keyboard command.
Keep this in mind and you'll be able to use sync with timecode. :)

ive been waiting for someone to post a tip like this for ages. thank you. (added blog to favourites bar)

i dont suppose you could maybe give me some advice?
Im a producer number 1, and have been for about 6 years. DJing is my number 2.. so please forgive any nube vibes..
Im running Traktor pro with a Xone 1D as a controller, i like this set-up, its easy to use, and ive been doing some really interesting things with cue points to mash tracks etc.
However, im very conscious of the fact that im constantly hunched over a small box pressing buttons (not very hands on/and not great to watch). hence the interest in time code djing. would it be possible to still use my 1D alongside the timecode setup? to still trigger cues, loops, fx, (THE DREADED SYNC) and browse traktor?
sorry for the essay. RB

Yes! You may use your Xone 1D controller while using Timecode. It's the same concept as DJing with Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol X1.
There is a MIDI mapping included in the Traktor setup, but you can also make your own. You might need som Midi mapping skills though. :) There are some good tips online for that.
